Le Verger Christian Science Nurses Training at Wayside House
Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health: “Love inspires, illumines,
designates and leads the way.” (S&H 454:18-19) Christian Science
Nurses are greatly needed across Canada and worldwide. There are
various ways to learn how to become a Christian Science Nurse. Le
Verger is one of the options available here in Canada for Canadians.
Le Verger is a small Christian Science Nursing facility in Switzerland,
that provides individualized Christian Science nursing care as well as
an accredited individualized Christian Science nurses training program
for students of Christian Science wishing to become Christian Science
nurses. The program consists of 4 levels. It is flexible and adaptable
to the needs of each individual which enables the students to stay in
their own country, work in their own communities and support their
local Christian Science churches.
The training consists of a classroom portion of 2-3 weeks in a
question and answer style. Throughout the course we discuss the
ethical, and practical aspects of different situations, we guide the
student to find his or her own way in fulfilling the Church Manual
by-law for the Christian Science nurse, (Man. 49:7) never forgetting that
the purpose of Christian Science nursing is always to be in constant expectation of full and complete healing. We also do word studies on certain topics which encourage the student to always look to the Bible, Science and Health, and Mrs. Eddy’s other writings for answers.
The classroom portion is followed by a mentoring program, which
starts when the student takes his or her first patient. Here at Wayside
it means going from the classroom straight onto to the Christian Science nursing floor. Currently, I have 2 students that I am mentoring at Wayside House. I work side by side with them providing initial
guidance and supporting them each step of the way until they feel
ready and confident to take on the tasks themselves.
We follow a check list that lists all the requirements that the student needs to fulfill in order to move up to the next level of training until they are ready to list their name in the Christian Science Journal. It is
a wonderful inspiring journey of spiritual growth and it is a great
privilege to be a witness to Christian Science healing.
